Acrylic Camp
Campers will explore a variety of creative themes while learning essential painting skills, including color mixing, composition, and technique. New campers will begin by completing 2–3 guided paintings through step-by-step demonstrations, then move on to creating artwork based on their own favorite subjects with instructor support. Returning campers will continue to develop their skills by either following demonstrations or working on subjects of their choice, receiving individualized feedback. All campers can expect to take home three or more finished, ready-to-hang paintings.
Materials: Campers need to bring at least four stretched canvases or canvas panels (size around 11" x 14"; returning campers can bring sizes up to 16" x 20". Please note that it takes more time to cover a larger canvas.) The studio will supply all other painting materials.
Watercolor Camp
Campers will be introduced to watercolor painting—one of the most beautiful yet challenging art forms—in a fun and approachable way. Throughout the camp, they will explore a variety of techniques while painting landscapes, still lifes, animals, and florals. Each morning, campers will create new paintings, starting with step-by-step demonstrations and then moving on to subjects of their own choice.
If weather permits, campers may also enjoy an outdoor painting session in the studio garden, adding inspiration from nature to their work. Returning campers will continue to strengthen and expand their skills by creating new sets of paintings across a variety of subjects, with ongoing guidance and support.
Materials: Campers need to bring their own watercolor pads (5.5” x 8.5”, 140 lb, spiral bound, at least 20 sheets); and a set of watercolor paints (12-color tube set.) Siblings can share one set of paints. The studio will provide brushes, palettes and other necessary supplies.
CartooningActivities: This camp is to help you get started in the endlessly fun world of cartooning and let your imagination run wild. Through fun and creative activities, campers will study various cartoon-making elements and learn to turn ordinary things into funny situations; we not only will learn to draw your favorite cartoon creatures, but also create your own and watch them move! (Bring your favorite cartoon characters to the camp!)
Materials: All you need is a drawing pad of any kind; the studio will provide all other drawing materials.
